Principal's Message: Dec B2K Podcast edition

Team KMS, did you know that this is a very special week?

Today, your KMS Admin team welcome a very special guest to the latest Between 2 Knights (B2K) Podcast. Dr. Michelle Howard-Brahaney, DoDEA-Europe Director for Student Excellence joins us for a conversation about the middle school years, we reflect on our own middle school experiences, we share some exciting PTSA news, a special shout out is given in honor of National School Counselors Appreciation Week, and as always, we have plenty of laughs. I hope you carve out a few minutes of your day to listen in.

This week we celebrate the amazing school counselors across our schools who have made a positive impact on our lives. For KMS, we honor the incredible work of Ms. Gilbert and Ms. Steadman. Without their gentle hearts, their steady guidance, and their unwavering generosity we could not be who we are. Join me in celebrating not only the two amazing counselors at KMS, but all school counselors around the world.

This month’s Key to Excellence is, Ownership. Taking responsibility for our actions is key as we guide our students towards excellence. Ownership for our actions isn’t always easy, but it is always the right thing to do. There are so many life lessons to be learned through taking ownership in our social and academic growth. Keep up the great work, KMS Knights!

Don’t forget, all archived Principal’s Messages can be found by checking out the KMS Official Website.

Our amazing KMS PTSA, making a difference every day!!

At KMS, kindness matters. Truly, building and sustaining a culture of kindness and generosity is critically important to our school, and the partnerships that we build between the classroom/school and home are paramount to support this. Our amazing KMS PTSA, in recognition of this, is kicking off a unique opportunity to highlight acts of kindness and generosity through a fundraiser unlike any other. Over the next several weeks (now-February 13) students will have an opportunity to serve others, engage in random acts of kindness, and demonstrate their generosity towards others. As an added incentive, this fundraiser comes with prizes and recognition. See below for a message from the KMS PTSA:

Welcome to our Raise Craze fundraiser (Flyer Attached)! This is a unique way for us to raise money for our school while making an impact in our community. During this fundraiser, students ask friends and family for donations via the online Raise Craze platform while paying it forward and serving others. What a great way for us to teach our students the importance of kindness and gratitude while raising much-needed funds. Students will spend time serving, not selling!

Every student can participate in Raise Craze by completing Acts of Kindness (AOK) so we’re aiming for 100% participation. As a little encouragement, teachers will be recognizing “Kindness On the Spot” when they see students being kind so please talk to your student about ways he or she might show kindness at school.
