Principal's Message: Did you hear the amazing news?
Happy Wednesday Team KMS,
To kick off this week’s message I would like to highlight an amazing person who has committed her life to creating a positive impact on her students, school, and community. On Friday, April 5th team KMS (all staff and students) joined together with the Europe-East Superintendent and Chief of Staff to recognize Ms. Susan Harris-Boring as the Europe East District Teacher of the Year. Our district serves over 15,000 students across 37 schools, and with this we are currently the largest district in DoDEA. As such, it’s a big deal to have the honors of a Teacher of the Year amongst us! Check out the official announcement (DoDEA Europe announces 2025 District Teachers of the Year) for Ms. Harris-Boring, join me in recognizing her for this wonderful distinction, and if you are within ear shot of AFN Kaiserslautern on April 16, in the 0900 hour, Ms. Harris-Boring will be on air.
Other noteworthy Reminders and News:
- As the weather begins to warm this is a good time to remind our community of the DoDEA Dress Code. Lately we have seen an increase in students wearing sleeveless shirts, very short shorts, slides/shower shoes, etc. Your assistance is appreciated!
- April 11: To be successful in school and life we know that there are 3 important things that exemplify excellence. Success is grounded in the practicing of KINDNESS and GENEROSITY, remaining HONEST in words, actions, and deeds, and focusing on being TIMELY and FULFILLING commitments. These foundations are the things that bind us as a community. So, to carry our theme throughout the year, Ms. D’Angelo and I will be recognizing students who have embodied the spirit of Kindness, Generosity, and Honesty. This is our chance to highlight the character traits that build great people. Students with academic achievements will be provided certificates to honor their TIMELINESS and focus on FULFILLING commitments.
- April 12: official report cards will be ready for viewing through the parent portal. If you need assistance, please contact KaiserslauternMSRegistrar@dodea.edu.
- April 15-19 and 22: Summative assessment week. All students must have their DoDEA Chromebooks and Headphones with 3.5mm or USB connections each day!
