Principal's Message: The Assistant Principal's Message

Dear KMS parents/guardians & students, 

Mr. James wasn't looking and I snuck in to do my very first "Assistant Principal Message"! 

As we quickly approach spring, our students are definitely feeling spring fever. As I am sure you are too! Our teachers, staff, Mr. James and I are focusing on a lot of student discipline issues surrounding a couple of our KMS expectations. We would like to encourage the conversations and connections at home about the use of bias free language and not perpetuating the cycle of gossip.  With your support we know we can keep moving forward with positivity through June.  

Here are a few updates and happenings at KMS:

• We are very excited about the upcoming field trip next week! (March 20th)  If your student(s) is going, it is going to be an amazing experience! I can't wait for all of the smiles and stories they will come home with! (We have some REALLY COOL surprises happening and I am sure they will have plenty to talk about).  
• If you signed up to volunteer next Wednesday, you will receive a phone call this Friday to let you know more details. 
• If your student is not attending the field trip, and staying behind at KMS, we will have a few staff members running the show here and they will have plans to help students get caught up with work for the end of the quarter and I am sure a couple of fun things too. 
• If you are taking an extending spring break, please let our office staff know so they can help you with the appropriate paperwork. 
• The end of the quarter is March 21st, and grades will be finalized on March 22 during our teacher workday. 
• VOLLEYBALL @ KMS... Please see the Volleyball Tuesdays flyer for more information! We are proud to host this opportunity for our students. Starting on March 19th!
• Important Dates:
  • March 22 - April 1^st : Spring Break
  • April 2nd: Students return (start of Quarter 3)
  • April 3rd: Coffee with admin @0900 in the library (Bldg 1178)
  • April 15^th - April 22nd: Summative Assessments for all students (ELA & Math)
  • Quarter 3 Recognition date for Kindness & Generosity will be arranged soon

Thank you for your continued support, and as we move into spring and the end of the school year, feel free to stop on by during lunch to throw around the football, play soccer or just hang out with us!
