Happy Wednesday, KMS Knights!

What a treat, I get to give a shout out to some amazing people this week! Throughout the school year the staff, Ms. D’Angelo (Assistant Principal), and I have worked diligently to instill values of what it takes for our students to be successful in life and in school. We hold one another to these standards, we learn from our mistakes, and we celebrate successes along the way. In past messages you may recall me sharing this poster, A Successful Night is…. At the end of each quarter, we honor those students who have remained Timely and Fulfilled Commitments through academic awards given in seminar classes. Our teachers nominate students from each grade level who have embodied the spirit of Kindness and Generosity and those who have

KMC Expectations

exemplified Honesty in Words, Actions, and Deeds. Those students are publicly recognized in grade level assemblies where we also take an opportunity to re-visit our KMS Expectations. This week I would like to take an opportunity to share with you our most recent recipients of the KMS Outstanding Knight Award. Join me in celebrating our students who are amazing people. These young men and women inspire me to be a better person each day!

Speaking of amazing people, did you know that this week is National School Counseling Week? A school could not run without the commitment that comes from a school counselor. The Dynamic Duo of Ms. Gilbert and Ms. Steadman have set the bar for what a great counselor is. They have a heart for kids, they are solution oriented, they are kind, considerate, and in general just amazing people. Please, join the KMS staff in recognizing the hard work and dedication given by Ms. Gilbert and Ms. Steadman.

February 15, 4:30-6:30, A Knight in Hollywood Dance, Sponsored by the KMS Student Council:

  • This event will be open to KMS students, only. We will relax our normal school dress code for this dance, which allows for dresses with spaghetti straps and so forth. I have communicated to the students that all I ask is that they remain modest, that what they wear doesn’t impede their ability to have fun on the dance floor, and that the things that should be covered, are covered. I recognize that this is vague, but I trust our parents/families to help monitor what their student is wearing for the dance. If there are any question, have your student talk with me.
  • Parents, are you interested in supporting KMS as a chaperone? If so, email pamela.hartenstine@dodea.edu and/or erin.clause@dodea.edu

School Advisory Committee: On January 31, the KMS School Advisory Committee held a meeting with our new board/officer members. View the Kaiserslautern MS SAC Agenda to find the agenda/minutes, which will give you a snapshot of what we discussed.
