Happy Wednesday Friends of KMS,

It’s week 3 of my 4 weeks of thanks. What better way to prep for Thanksgiving, am I right? For this week, I want to recognize that today is National Education Support Professionals Day. On our campus we have a dozen dedicated team members that are the unsung heroes of KMS. They, often but not always, work behind the scenes supporting our students 1:1, in small groups, they support our families as they enter the building, and each is fantastic at building great relationships with kids. I am proud to say that they do all of this with joy in their hearts and smiles on their faces. Not a day goes by that I am not thankful for our Education Support Professionals. Join me in celebrating these amazing folks.

Want to hear something interesting? Did you know that today is National Spicy Hermit Cookie Day? I am not even sure what a spicy hermit cookie is but based on the NationalToday website it looks good. I sure am curious if anyone out there in Knight Nation has ever had one of these delectable treats.

Items of interest:

This week Ms. D’Angelo (Assistant Principal extraordinaire, it’s an official title) and I are celebrating students who have exemplified kindness, generosity, and honesty. As part of these brief celebrations, she and I are taking a moment to provide each student with clarity of our behavioral expectations through commitment statements. These are valuable lessons and guidelines that impact each of our students not only for today but for the rest of their lives. I am inviting each of our families to use these as conversation starters at home. It truly takes all of us to support the cognitive and emotional growth of each student.

  • I will use bias free language, no matter the context, that does not include negative or historically negative reference to race, gender preference, etc.
  • I will not perpetuate the cycle of gossip, harassment, or bullying. I understand that sharing a rumor has negative effects on others.
  • I understand that my actions reflect positively or negatively on the entire school. Therefore, I will honor others through positive behaviors, cleanliness, language, and actions in all settings.

What’s going on at KMS?

  • The KMS PTSA is seeking your involvement. Join a great group of people and a wonderful organization through the PTSA membership.
  • Word on the street has it that KMS will be visited by two special guests, Santa Claus and his mischievous pal, Elf on the Shelf. Santa, that guy is cool!
  • The KMS PTSA has some special holiday spirit wear coming soon, details to come!
  • Have you checked out the KMS calendar lately? No? You should definitely check it out.

Make it a great week!!!

Jason
