Students, parents, families, and friends of KMS, happy Wednesday.

In last week’s message I took an opportunity to share the focus for this month’s Key to Excellence. Commitment fits well with the new year, and with this comes goal setting, positive actions, and perseverance. Commitment, also, fits very well with the upcoming January 20^th remembrance of the incredible contributions of Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King, as a leader of the Civil Rights Movement, was a perfect model of commitment. His positive actions were grounded in meaningful goals, he held strong in his beliefs, and he persevered in the face of incredible odds. This afternoon I spent some time reading and reflecting on Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream Speech”. It has been 62 years since that speech was delivered, and while so much has changed in our country, the relevance of his words will forever be impactful. For me, the phrase that will be etched in my mind over the coming hours, days, weeks, and beyond is so simply stated, “We cannot walk alone.” True, so very true!
