Happy Thursday, Team KMS!

It’s true, I am still flying high from the fantastic opportunity our students experienced for yesterday’s field trip. I am so incredibly proud of our students, staff, volunteers, partners, and our community for a job well done yesterday. We mustered up great courage and loaded 17 buses with 554 students, staff, and volunteers for a school wide field trip to Ramstein Air Base’s 3rd Annual Fly Like a Girl event. It was EPIC! Our kids had a chance to experience and learn about many of the career fields involved with keeping our Air Force in the sky’s and safe. In total, there were 18 Units providing demonstrations. This included law enforcement demonstrations, 2 C-130’s were set-up for different missions that kids could walk-through, the kids toured cockpits, experienced using a firehose, they learned about the technical fields of communication, maintenance, medical care, and so much more. There were even 5 rounds of flyovers from C-130’s with drops (Parachuters). The afternoon closed out with a special guest speaker, General Jones. He delivered a great message that honored the incredible contributions that women have made in the Air Force and beyond. I believe it was safe to say that we were all very tired. Seriously, the buses on the way back were very quiet! Please, if you know anyone who works in these units (CLICK ME), pass along your appreciation.

I want to give a huge shout out to Noah Davis, Sophia Baltrus, Gavin Miles, Bailey Callahan, and Ellie James. CLICK ME for a picture recognizing them for their winning submission to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Patriots Pen contest. In all, I am tracking over $2500 of prize money earned! Great Job!
