Principal's Message: Assistance and Acts of Kindness edition

Vol. 6
September 10, 2025

Students, parents, families, and friends of KMS, happy Wednesday!

“Es gibt kein schlechtes Wetter, es gibt nur falsche Kleidung,” is a common saying here in Germany. The translation rings true, there is no bad weather, there is only wrong clothing. One of the things that first struck me when our family moved to Germany 13 years ago was that no matter how bad the weather was outside, my German neighbors would dress for the weather and get outside for fresh air. At KMS, we are no different. So, I encourage our students to come prepared for days where the weather is wet, cold, snowy, or otherwise not perfect. That is, unless it is absolutely a torrential downpour, we allow our students to go to the red-top (play area) for some fresh air and exercise during lunch. Dress for the weather and remember, “Es gibt kein schlechtes Wetter, es gibt nur falsche Kleidung.”

Kindness Matters! That isn’t just our mantra, it’s what KMS stands for and we strive to model it in our words, actions, and deeds. As we continue our journey towards building a school culture grounded in kindness, we have an opportunity to partner with our amazing PTSA for a unique fundraising venture centered on honoring kindness. This is a unique fundraiser like none other. There is nothing to sell, it’s simple, and it allows our students to “pay it forward by completing Acts of Kindness.” Raise Craze, the online platform for this fundraiser allows participants to identify possible donors who pledge funds towards students completing Acts of Kindness. There are prizes, incentives for grade levels/seminar classes, and more. Through Raise Craze, the KMS PTSA raised over $9k last year to support our students and staff. The goal this year is $15K, and that is totally doable.
